LOURENS PETRUS BESTER

Lourens Petrus Bester is a South African artist, residing in Stellenbosch, who primarily explores the nature of space and time, by focusing on the physical and mental influences these instances has on an individual. His body of work consists of installations of found material, and a collection of drawings, prints and photographs. 

He uses a methodical approach to attempt to resolve and question the way time, in relation to space and space, physical and imaginary, affects an individual’s behavior. His use of systematic numbering and methods of creating throughout his work is relevant. He creates imaginary and temporal structured spaces which change form and shape with each space it manifests itself in as an attempt to visualize the way individuals adapt themselves to certain spaces they enter.
